Want to meet the ONLY internationally certified building inspector in DR .. and ask him ANY question you want?

In the DR Inner Circle, July’s expert speaker, Troy, will answer members questions about his experience as the country’s only inspector certified by a US and International body!

Information that costs HUNDREDS of dollars to obtain is available for the $9/month subscription I charge for the DR Inner Circle (plus we’re talking about bad brokers, developers, how to get cheap cable tv and MUCH more!)

I Spent 24 Hours in the Most EXCLUSIVE Hotel in DR

Every few months I try to do a daddy-son weekend with each of my kids.

When my older kid asked for our special time together to be at a resort, there was only ONE I truly wanted to go to.

In this video above (just tap the picture) I’m not only sharing the resort and experience, but I’ll give you my HONEST RATINGS for the hotel PLUS the price point and things to do if you decide to stay there as well.

3 Things I Noticed Spending 3 Weeks in the US

We do a lot of things last minute.

The most recent decision was to go back to Michigan for 3 weeks to prep our home there for sale and get out of the extreme Caribbean summer heat!

So … here I am .. in the US for 3 weeks and I’ve noticed 3 specific things I’ll share.

#1: Americans Looks Unhealthy

I travel back enough, but it’s usually alone with a singular mission.

Get in, get in rental car, go to hotel, speak at event, get back in car, back to airport and fly to DR.

When traveling with family, I’ve noticed, I get to look around more.

Back in Punta Cana, people look vibrant, healthy, happy, fit!

Here though - I see much more obesity, poor skin, heavy children and so on.

Sounds like judgment I know .. but it’s truly an observation and when I asked my wife who HATES being judgmental, she shared my sentiment.

Add to that how we feel when we eat out. There’s just something heavy about food here. We know about chemicals, preservatives, dyes, etc of course.

But it just feels like something else weighs the food down.

The kids even feel it.

The free newsletter making HR less lonely

The best HR advice comes from people who’ve been in the trenches.

That’s what this newsletter delivers.

I Hate it Here is your insider’s guide to surviving and thriving in HR, from someone who’s been there. It’s not about theory or buzzwords — it’s about practical, real-world advice for navigating everything from tricky managers to messy policies.

Every newsletter is written by Hebba Youssef — a Chief People Officer who’s seen it all and is here to share what actually works (and what doesn’t). We’re talking real talk, real strategies, and real support — all with a side of humor to keep you sane.

Because HR shouldn’t feel like a thankless job. And you shouldn’t feel alone in it.

#2: Driving in the US is AWESOME!

Safety is always a topic for DR - but the only true threat in my opinion is the quality of driving there.

In particular, large trucks and buses fly through like they can stop on a dime.

And motos are insane!

Driving here where people follow rules, a 4 way stop is not chaos and generally speaking you don’t feel like you’re about to get plowed by the tractor trailer following you is REALLY refreshing!

#3: You Need a Break

I LOVE living in the Dominican Republic as does my wife.

And after 2 days here we even said it — ‘Punta Cana is home’

There are a TON of things that I like more in DR than I do in the US.

But the things that are frustrating in DR make you need a break every so often.

The slow lines at the grocery store, the ‘I’m gonna get mine’ mindset, the crazy driving and the ‘oh you didn’t bring me this one form I needed which wasn’t included on the sheet we gave you’ type of shit.

It’s nice to break away, reset, and go back with more gratitude.

Ya know what I do miss though? ISABEL!!!!

Having to wash your own dishes SUCKS!! Haha

Miches!! (We’re Close)

If you’re new here, then maybe you don’t know.

There’s a little town called Magua which is essentially Miches where a developer friend has acquired a large plot of land with ocean view.

That land will be subdivided and sold for as little as $20,000 for a 350 sq meter lot.

I’ve said for a while now that I want the final contract reviewed by my attorney and then I can get it out to all of you!

There’s a substantial wait list of people that are about to hear some VERY good news.

If you’re not on that list, you can join it here.

But the DR Inner Circle members have an even BIGGER leg up.

They actually have been able to meet the developer, schedule land tours and many have ALREADY RESERVED A PLOT OF LAND.

(I told you I overdeliver for $9/month 😉)

All that said, soon the final contract will be reviewed by my attorney (like VERY soon) and i’ll be able to first notify the Inner Circle .. and shortly after I’ll notify all of you.

I’m excited about the prospect of this project in Miches and the easiest way to get more info truly is by joining me in the DR Inner Circle.

Otherwise, stay tuned to your email and you’ll hear from me soon.

(For those that saw my ‘gringo king’ video, to be clear, of COURSE the developer will compensate me if you CHOOSE to purchase .. ALWAYS be sure to do your own due diligence!!)

That’s it for this week. Thanks for following along on this journey!!
