When I ship things to Dominican Republic from the United States, the ONLY courier I use and trust has been BM Cargo. With locations all over the country and now a co-working space AND coffee shop in Bavaro, BM Cargo is the highest quality courier with the most services in the entire country. Miches Is About to EXPLODE

If you’re not familiar, Miches is a small town about 90 minutes north of Punta Cana.

Recently, I’ve been sharing a potential opportunity to acquire land plots there soon for as little as $20,000 (finacing could be $1000 down and $500/mo for 3 years!).

While that project still moves toward finalization and I will absolutely announce when it’s ready, some news this week came directly from the Minister of Tourism on Miches that completely validates this very simple projection:

Miches is the NEXT Punta Cana!

If you want to get on the wait list to be contacted first about the land I mentioned above, just click here but please only do so if you’re in a position to potentially buy.

In a recent Travel Pulse article, Minister David Collado shared the following:

New destinations such as Miches, where the Four Seasons chain is located, where Viva Wyndham Resorts has already opened its doors. The Hyatt chain has 1,000 rooms opening soon, and it's a destination we're carefully planning with sustainable and environmentally friendly land use plans. It's a major commitment for the Dominican Republic.”

He goes on to mention Punta Bergantin in Puerto Plata along with Cabo Rojo projects in Pedernales but less prominently than Miches.

Add to this the recently news that the IMF (International Monetary Fund) projected Dominican Republic will be the second fastest economy in the WORLD in 2026!!

My recent YouTube videos have spoken to the fact that DR is in a window, a moment. And what DR does with this moment will decide if the country takes a wild step forward economically and developmentally over the next 10-20 years.

So far, I believe the country has handled the opportunity mostly well. While the humanitarian part of deportations hurts my heart, the aggressive posture on deportations is the right play (taking all emotion out).

The naming of semiconductors as a national priority by Abinader, the emergence of free trade zones, the rare earths and open skies agreement with the United States are all positive steps.

Where the Dominican Republic MUST invest in order to stake their claim is education, corruption and infrastructure.

  • While much of the country has improved with roads and highways, the electric grid, rail connectivity, domestic flights, airport upgrades (outside of PUJ) all need to be modernized and aggresively shoved forward.

  • Paying police a working income and dangling the pension carrot is essential to start the curbing of corruption. Give cops a reason not to lose the job, attract only the best with great pay and benefits and you start to eradicate corrption bottom up.

  • Most important is education, especially of women in the society. Not because they’re more capable or important in the workforce, but because the society very much prioritizes men and the roles women would play in this economy are essential for the future.

All of that said, tourism is king and that’s not going to stop. I love diversifying the economy and that will take time.

Miches is now what Punta Cana was in 1982 when Club Med arrived as the first resort. Only Miches has Punta Cana close by to shorten its rise to a fully developed resort community.

The time to get in is now. I know I’m in!!

Here is the TravelPulse article and the IMF article if interested.

Flights Are Cheaper in 2025 - And More Are Coming!

There have been multiple announcements recently of direct flights that have started or will start coming to different DR airports.

After the open skies agreement was signed and completed in the last few months, you’re seeing a FLURRY of new routes - it’s hard to keep up!

Below, I’ve compiled all new routes I could find and when they have or will start for each airport.

The big question is ‘when will flight prices come down’. The answer is - they have!

According to CheapFlights and Kayak, flights from the US to DR have dropped 12% in Q1 2025 vs. Q1 2024 (January-March). Average price is $388 v. $443.

Today, I was looking to book my parents from Albany NY to Punta Cana and the price was $900 for 2 people which, per Google, is $882 less than usual pricing!

The introduction of additonal low cost carriers like Arajet and the open skies agreement are cited as the reason for the reduction.

Quick tips to get the best pricing:

  • Book 5-23 weeks in advance of your planned travel

  • May and September are the cheapest months to travel

Here’s that list I promised:

Santo Domingo (Las Américas International Airport - SDQ)

  • Arajet

    • Boston (BOS): Starts November 20, 2025, with four weekly flights.

    • Miami (MIA): Launched April 11, 2025, operating four times weekly.

    • Newark (EWR): Begins June 16, 2025, with four weekly flights.

    • San Juan (SJU): Commences June 4, 2025, operating four times weekly.

Happy travels friends!! See you in DR 😉

I Was DEAD WRONG About the Dominican Economy

Recently, I shared a likely slow down in tourism and real estate in DR based on what’s going on with uncertainty in the US market.

And it makes sense! There is evidence of reduced consumer spending in forecasts, people are less certain which means they hold their money.

But maybe I underestimated the draw of DR .. maybe!

Check this video out.

Friends - I appreciate you being along for this ride. I’ll talk to you next week!
